FOMADAS Background

FOMADAS (also known as Foreign Manpower Dialogue And Sharing) is non-profit organisation and recognized by the Malaysia Government as a platform to collect feedback and discuss issues among Malaysian government senior officers, industries leaders together with foreign embassies official on the latest policy changes related to migrant workers in Malaysia as well as in foreign countries. In view of its commitment in promoting an efficient government system and policies in sourcing and protecting of talented human resources against exploitation and human trafficking, it has published its FOMADAS Newlsine and distributed 3000 complementary copies to many industries throughout Malaysia and also maintain its soft copy at www.InterManpower.com. Besides, it has organised many seminars and forums and were officiated by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and MITI and also by state government.

FOMADAS is founded by Yang Berbahagia Dato Dr Kang Chin Seng, a corporate advisor of Pensonic Holdings and also a advisor to Penang Xiamen Trade Association and former director of ARTDO (Asia Region Training and Development Organisation) and Michael Heah, the Chief Editor of Fomadas Newslines. Together, they have published the first Malaysia foreign worker employer’s handbook in 2003 and many other foreign manpower bulletins and magazines.

FOMADAS is now working closely with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Corporate and Communication Department to publish new services offered by the Immigration Department such as the Resident Pass and ATAC card. for frequent business travelers. They are also working with the local Immigration Departments on issues related to the foreign workers, its documentation and its enforcement policies.

Many industries leaders have complained lack of information and communication channels from the government departments to the industries, and FOMADAS was formed to update and educate the industries leaders on the latest policies and regulations. It has established its own blog at www.InterManpower.com and the members of the industries are encouraged to discuss and give their opinions in the forum on foreign workers issues related to their companies.
